First ship with wind turbines for the expansion of the San Pedro de Chiloé Wind Farm arrives in Puerto Chincui

The unloading included the generators, towers averaging 30 meters long and weighing between 45 and 87 tons, and the largest blades ever to arrive in Chile for an initiative of this type, exceeding 60 meters in length.
The maritime and logistical conditions of PUERTO CHINCUI, and its strategic location just off Route 5, which allow the transport of large loads without entering the city center of Puerto Montt, contributed positively to the unloading operation of these wind turbines.

Nicolás Mendoza, manager of PUERTO CHINCUI, praised this landing. «We are a multipurpose terminal, and within that framework, this operation is one of the many we carry out. It’s also a milestone in which we are proud to participate, contributing to the region as part of the logistics value chain of a renewable energy project for the development of Chiloé,» he stated.

Gamesa, one of the world’s leading wind turbine manufacturers and a leader in Spain in the manufacture, sale, and installation of wind turbines, was responsible for the first phase of the San Pedro Wind Farm and is now also responsible for the expansion of this initiative.
The next wind turbine landing at PUERTO CHINCUI is scheduled for April 10.
