On 27 March, Empresas Maritimas OXXEAN was visited by the Maximum National Authority of the Port’s Works (DOP) together with part of his team of national and regional work. DOP visited the OXXEAN facilities, in order to inspect the progress of Port Chincui, great-bulk port which is being built in Punta Caullahuapi.
The New Port Chincui aims to address the docking necessities for large ships; that nowadays are unable to dock in the region, due to the limitations of the existing port. Moreover it will also facilitate the unloading and loading of solid bulk, by using leading technology.
«It is a port that counts on leading technology that should produce a change in logistics imports of bulk products in southern Chile,» said Ivar Pacheco, director of Empresas Oxxean.
Also expected to receive larger ships, with a multiplier effect on regional agriculture, says Ivar Pacheco.
The DOP visited the site accompanied by Oxxean executives. After this visit they also visited Port Oxxean, where they were able to see another of the major business of this holding, recently installed and already in operation, a new and larger bascule bridge plus a new floating pontoon, in order to increase the transfer of cargo demanded by the current market.
